    Hello guys ^-^,
Many have proposed the idea of merging servers, its not that i disagree with that idea, its nice, but BP also has a point, too much trouble >_< and it causes a crap load of problems so i introduce to you my Idea.

    Da Intergalactic transfer Ticket
What does it do?Well it allows you to change servers. To any server of your choice, but things like this dont come cheap,it costs around (BPs decision) which is worth it.

And try to name servers based not on location, but by names of galaxies. Not only that, but BP has to change the structure of each server, and by that i mean change the structures of maps, add more npcs maybe?Give us players something new to discover.Theres no point in moving servers if you're just going to see the same aliens,x-1s....x-2s....x-3s....same maps crap, rewards stuff like that, give us a challenge, this will make the game more interesting, besides, curiosity always got the best of us pilots...until we discover all that the game has to offer. For example, this galaxy is predominantly populated by pirate players ,but why would another player go there if he were to be just shot down by a pirate player?Well, that galaxy offers 3x more rewards from boxes and aliens, which just have normal stats, but why would a player be a pirate in that galaxy?Well because when he kills a player he too gets 3x the amount of EP,HN and cargo. And btw the reward multiplication also affects booties, hehe booties...,maybe 3x is too much...too little that is up to BP to decide.Another Example Of a galaxy would be a galaxy which is predominantly populated by trading players, trading activities include trading of ore, say, someone wants 1000 sep for 10000 promerium?Or maybe 2k palla for 10k sep?U can also trade uri for palla,Credits for palla, maybe 2k for an ore?But for this to work,BP,of course has to increase the cargo bay of each ship and maybe design a new ship to fit the server, say a mining/collecting,whatever u wanna call it ship, which moves incredibly slow, but has two slots for pet,2nd price of pet quadruples due to the easy income they can make from trading, the two pets make collecting faster. Those are just two examples of the galaxies to be discovered using this transfer ticket.
I truly hope my idea can make a change,it doesnt have to come instantly,it doesnt have to be specifically the way i said it should be,all i want is for darkorbit to be a more interesting game.
    TQ

  2. Hmm, early morning laughs. I think we all know that the basics for all the servers is the same. The only issue comes with the amount of players on said server. The more players in the game map, the more npcs except for x6 map will only have 4 cubes at a time.

The rest of your idea, while interesting, is probably as much work for BP as much, if not more trouble as just combining what we have already.

I know,i guess the trading and pirate map is too much XD,but what do you think of the Transfer ticket and different NPCs(Not including the rewards stated)? And also to each galaxy there would be a limit to the amount of players who can enter.5000 per galaxy i mean server maybe? We have to give the players something new to discover.

  4. I would be interested in knowing how many active players there are on say all the US and GB servers. By active I would say log in at least once a week. That would help them figure out what kind of impact merges would give. I should really say at least 3 times a week, then once and twice a week average. The rest could go into a common server until they start playing more often. This could have a negative impact as a UFE coming back after two weeks could suddenly over power the dead server for a few hours.

  5. You have to break that down a little more than that (login can be just to do lab transfer), D O classifies a player active if they login once every 4 weeks (don't have to do anything in maps just login). I would want to know who is actively killing in the maps, lots just pally for GG spins, others just box in b-maps, and even more just do GG's. I saw a thread that asked for counters to be added to both the back page and in-game screens for the amount of players on line at the time. This would be advantageous to those with accounts on several servers (they could see which one to play to suit their style, empty to full).
Sounds like the transfer ticket is just another form of creating a Galaxy Gate, and I feel we have enough PAID gates to do now we need some FREE gates for the F2P people. I understand the game needs money but as seen in several threads the money will not stay if it has nothing to kill except other money. Suggest things that encourage the FREE player to enjoy the game with all the disappointments they are dealing with and the game may rebound without the NEW (most will be free to start) players the game has no chance of a recovery of any sort.

Getting new maps that have a theme to attract players to them is a great idea and yes I would even go for the Trade maps, but we already have the Pirate maps, but have these as a protected map so PvP was not a part of it, as an anti-botter map maybe have an NPC that if it targeted you it was almost certain death causing you to run from it when you saw it.

  6. I agree with you on this. BP would have to set "real" time constraints to show who is really active. Its possible for a player doing transfers to have less than a minute in game, daily. Coming on to do the daily mission adds 5 to 15 minutes.

If players are doing this, I would be ok with it. Pally and boxing takes time, not to mention the GG. Maybe showing a certain amount of progression is needed. Bad thing is some players spend hours just guarding a base and may not move hardly doing that time if not attacked. Some sit at ports watching for attackers. Lots of boring stuff that is definately needed. Too many variables out there.

Oh and to answer the OP question to me, I think that if there was movement, having new/different players in the orbit would be huge in itself. That would change the players safety net. I play various servers and its weird adjusting to who to watch for. The chat is a good indicator but not all encompassing. Two of the servers I don't understand the language and the rest I don't know too many players, so outside my main server I have an active challenge to contend with.

  7. Only differences are the Turkey and US servers have special designs for the Goliath, everything else is the same.
So basically, you think D O needs to create NEW servers for us to use these transfer tickets to get into (oh isn't this what we get when doing Galaxy Gates? without the extra people). The JPA was the single server PvP action where you "registered" your desire to be entered into the server and compete for top honors (which was a failure do to cheaters).

Issues that would be too hard to deal with, like PSK~SUNDANCE says you get people from ALL servers in this one and the CHAT is useless, the character names would all need to be scripted for ALL languages and deciphered into the language for the player and we know translator software does not always translate properly the context of a sentence. Having player from a server with no company loyalty mixed with company loyal players creates other issues as you start having company killings where the players are not used to having the same (go into Beta Test Server and see what I mean). So instead of creating another set of SERVERS to be maintained (like 58 are not enough) and creating UFE killing free for alls, lets improve the servers we have, increase the pleasure for the NEW players causing them to stick around longer than a month or two, reduce the imbalance of the game by restricting the attacks on ships (level, maps, equipment, F2P, or P2W), create new areas in our galaxies to investigate and give special rewards for having visited these areas, and make the game fun for all again like when we only had FE ships to deal with and could get there easily.

The game does not need to be reinvented or put on more servers. It does need some modifications and corrections, but to generate more servers to cause more problems and reduce the populations on current servers, is not the answer to the fixes needed for D O. Add maps that have NPC's that are now only seen in the Galaxy Gates, give us special quests causing us to check out these new maps, make rewards worth the time and effort to kill these NPC's and do these quests. And most important make these new maps PvE ONLY maps (so a person can work on defensive flying without the need to worry about being popped all day long) except by the NPC's in the maps, and when we have invasions into our maps (Parasite Tide, Insane Pets, Kurcubitors? etc) have them perma added in a new map after the event has ended so when the UFE have tired of them the newbs can have a chance to kill them (these maps could be accessed from a new portal in x-2 that would enter into another galaxy and a third page of maps of the star system accessible only to that companies players, like invasion gate).

I think u guys got my idea wrongly,Im not trying to add servers/merge servers or create galaxy gates,Im talking about the ability of a player to shift to a different server which is different from his previous server, and doing so requires a ticket, this ticket is available to be purchased through in game currency, uri of course which must be expensive because the switching of servers is not something small, with that a player has to play through the server he picked first to bulk up and then only can he buy a ticket, maybe not bulk up,possibly a level requirement will be set up,lvl 15 maybe? To be able to purchase a ticket?

  9. You realize that the ability to do this is a programmers nightmare and is one of the reasons server mergers are so hard to do. It is not just taking the equipment and everything earned and putting it into another server. YES I understand it is not a server MERGE but the same principals are involved to do this. MYSELF, I think that a person creates an account and plays that account on a server he wants to. His equipment goes with him to any server he chooses to play, BUT, he only has XP and Honor for that particular server (yes you could have a UFE Basic Space Pilot with NO STRIPES) on a server he has never played before. This would require a player limit (like in Level Invasion Gate) where you might be told you need to choose another server to play as the server is FULL (as if this could happen in D O again) or wait for players to log off. The Back Page would be the same as it is now (except you would not have the In-Map information available) and add a new tab for "Ranking by Server" allowing you to see what servers you have played and your position in each. This would then prevent the need to BUILD different accounts/servers just use the same account on all servers (some servers may be CLOSED as these servers are full of people who use it as their PRIMARY server, mine would be USA West). This would have advantages to the community as they would not have accounts that have been closed for inactivity (login to the Back Page is acknowledged to all servers you play), advantages to D O as people could make their own enjoyment in the game and thus spend more money, advantages to the servers as more people come to them for whatever reason they are looking for (more/less populated, too many botters, too many bullies, whatever), and ultimately the game gets new life into it.

I like the basic idea. However, maybe instead you could have a ladder system, where once you get to a certain level you transfer to a different harder server. This would keep the power players that pray on weaker players somewhere else. Thinking about it, you don't really have to change servers. You could keep the basic Gate system you have now just don't let players who transfer back to where they came from. Kind of the same idea behind going into the 5-1 map. This would allow newer player a goal to reach and the ability to grow without being crushed by the power players.

  11. Although this looks good on the surface, the downfalls are;

    1. Upper level players would not be able to help lower players with quests
    2. Daily missions would have to be made for each tier of the game
    3. Maps that are empty now would be even emptier
    4. Being able to make Event missions would be even harder as each tier would have to have a set
    5. Getting help with quests would be same level player and sometimes it is better with stronger player helping also.
    6. Kills Events like Spaceball and Capture the Beacon as they would have to create bases at each level and also create beacons in each level.
I would make a suggestion that might work better and have it so a player can not attack another LOWER player if more than 3 levels difference (level 16 can not attack level 12) unless they are attacked by the lower level player first (like the protection in x-1 maps, enemy can not attack unless attacked) this would apply to Hunting parties also so a UFE level 20 could not group with level 12 and allow the lower to start a fight and jump in to help him the lock and subsequent attack would generate a message "This players Level is too low for you to attack".

Ok,im passive with that idea,I dont like it,but i dont hate it either, instead of disabling a player from attacking a lower, which would give a really big impact on the game, may i suggest that instead of disabling,we should instead make it discouraging to attack a lower player.Say you are lvl 15 and you're attacking a level 10,the decrease in value(My Suggestion,BP can set it to any value they want)1 level of difference decreases the rewards by 6%,this would seem reasonable, and that disabled attacked would just be given to really low players instead(lvl 1-5),although,players of a low level who attacks a player of a higher level will instead receive increased experience too,but not 6% as that it too high. And the last thing i would like to say is,by using levels to evaluate a player, wallet warriors would triumph throughout the server as they could get strong by $$,so instead of using a level, how bout we replace the level with *Level Of Skill* Which is much better,The strength of equipment is taken into account for the*Level Of Skill* And if your confused with my statement due to my lack of vocabulary heres an example for the things i can't put the words together for.Another thing *Level oF skill acquired from equipment has its limit however fighting skills does not*

    1 pheonix with an LF-4
    vs
    1 pheonix with a LF-3

Lets say the value Of skill acquired from the lf-4 is 5 and the lf-3 is 3.
And the LF-3 Peanut somehow manages to kick the crap out of the lf-4 he gains 1 point of Fighting Skill.
So the LF-3 peanut now has a total *LOS* of 4,and when he reaches 5 or above he no longer gains the bonuses he gets by killing High Leveled Players.
So waddya think? Please do post ur opinions on this statement, cause i have a feeling its stupid, but from my point of view its the best option. ;)

  14. Okay flaws in this are;
    • Level < 5 are protected from attack by D O as they are doing the Starter quests
    • Level < 10 are still trying to learn how to play the game (unless they CASHED their equipment)
    • Staying with the O P the LoS would never come into play as the upper people would never be able to return to see these players
    • The players who are Hunting do not care about the rewards they do or do not receive they just want the kills
    • Does nothing to help bolster failing server populations
As far as a person who BOUGHT their FE ship they usually do not have the skills to make it pay off for them and do not know how to equip the ship to stay in the fight so yes they are "stronger" but they are not as savvy as to how to perfect the kill. I still think my proposed change would be the best (less changes to current game structure, gives protection to newbs, allows PvP to happen at the whim of a "froggy" newb instead of slaughter by the UFE, allows PvE players to worry about killing their NPC's instead of being hit by UFE stalker). The biggest problem we need to resolve is the numbers of people who have created accounts and not been back to play since the first day of playing (look at the Top User drop down in "hall of fame" and see how many people are above 100 R P as less than this they have not even completed the Starter Missions) and you will see of the 100 pages listed less than 50 fit in this category (unless the server is very active).
