[UI] Unknown Space

  1. Hello everyone.

    Its not a secret that darkrobit is slowly dying, and that its player base is not even close to what it was few years ago.

    That is kinda because of power creep(considering how drastically stronger ships are now than they used to be), but also because it is quite monotone.

    So my idea is to add something, which would add much more soul to darkrobit, its communities and also increase the importance of the company in the game.

    The idea is to add set of new maps, which would be unknown, uncharted space. One of the ideas of accessing them would be to overwrite advance Jump CPU, resulting in uncontrolled jump somewhere in this new, uncharted unknown space.

    Such space would be rich in resources, content and rewards. However, the condition to keep all of the rewards obtained during your stay is to safely come back to charted known space.

    Although maps are uncharted, maps in the unknown space would have means (such as star gates or wormholes) to travel among the maps, and each of the maps would be different. and in order to come back to normal space, you either have to find a way to overwrite adv. jump CPU again to return home, or find a wormhole that will take you back. It is important to mention, that you can end up "lost" in unknown space, making return besides killing yourself impossible.

    Since the space is uncharted, after successful return alongside keeping all of the rewards, it is also possible to sell your "findings" to your company, allowing each member of the company to get some knowledge of unknown space, how to navigate through it and so on.

    In order for unknown space to stay unknown space, each month entire unknown space would be reseted, changed and shuffled, making the previous findings and data obsolete.

    There are many ideas how this can be made awesome and interesting, but for now I want to keep it short just for you guys to get an idea of what I am talking about. I really think something like this would make DO an awesome game and definitely stand out among other games like DO available.

  3. Uncharted space?

    What if we just got rid of the mini-map, ping, and follow instead. Then you would appear to be in uncharted space and have an interesting time finding your way between maps.
