[UI] Venom Singularity Redesign

  1. As it stands, Venom's Singularity ability is pretty useless. People are too smart to waste an EMP-01 before the ability is used on them, so you never get to use it in combat and have it do anything useful.

    (I did just say it's useless because it's not useful)

    The only use it has right now is killing Kristallons and Cubikon, but that's not what the "ultimate PvP design" is advertised for. So I came up with an awesome idea for it that I really hope I can garner some support for.

    Venom Singularity: Begins a charge on an enemy player that lasts six seconds. While charging, energy is drawn from your Ship's engines to amplify the damage you deal to the enemy by 6%. Once ready, the charge will detonate, dealing direct damage equal to 10% of the enemy's hit-points, and 25% of the damage you dealt to them with lasers while the effect was active.

    Due to the power diversion, your speed will be reduced by 40% while the effect is active.

    For clarification:
    • EMP-01 bursts will not remove the effect, but instead detonate it early.
    • Only Laser damage is counted towards the damage dealt upon detonation.
    • The damage that is dealt is direct damage, meaning that it goes directly to hit-points.
    • 300k damage in 6 seconds will result in 75,000 + 10% HP damage (105,600 damage on an FE Goliath with 306k HP).

  5. So far, this idea seems cool and will stop those Venom's just sitting and trying to take free kills with the ability (PvP, PvE included too).

    I have a question:
    • "..Once ready, the charge will detonate, dealing direct damage equal to 10% of the enemy's hit-points.." - meaning total HP, or current HP?
  6. Hmm, I've never really given that one much thought. I think I always assumed it'd be 10% of total (similar to a DDM) but I figure that could be a little too OP with the extra damage on top. I think it'd be best to make it 10% of current.

  7. Doing 10% of total HP can be a good amount of damage, especially if we take into consideration the Citadel. :)
    On the other hand, 10% of the current HP may make the skill to be used with a lot of tactics and calculations (which is good, if you ask me), cause it depends if you use it on start of the battle, or on the end, where the damage will be much lower from the skill.

    Personally, I like the both cases, really. Although, the second one seems slightly better, cause it makes you calculate the battle, not just hit 100k damage and fly away. :)

  9. Umm, okay. It's fairly simple. You activate it and deal as much damage as you can, and then it deals damage depending on how much you managed to do in the 6 seconds.

    I don't appreciate that you're calling the DarkOrbit community stupid. :eek:

    I get it but still, if you fire venom ability after your enemy has fired EMP (and runs to portal) you can still do some nice DMG. The only edit I would make to this design, would be to make it reach its maximum damage sooner, but even that might be to OP. Not everybody has EMP, and even if they do, once again: if they fired it and you activate the ability you can still cause some nice DMG.

    Furthermore, your're first idea of dealing a surten amount of damage, based on your own damage and an amount of the enemys hp, I think would be to OP. Especially if you fight against people with suicide configs (though this might also be a good idea to ged rid of those pussats xp). Anyway, 10% of HP is quite of a pain for the citadel (just like a Smartbomb). Not much people use it already, I don't think we should make it any more easier to destroy it.

    I don't have experience with this design though, so correct me if I'm missing something.
  12. Not for nothing but this idea seems workable. I mean honestly the stupid venom ability is practically useless. If you arent on top of a player, it will not work. Ever since DO changed the range, this has ceased to be a useful tool. I like the fact that your ships energy can be drained into the effect. It provides and advantage but also a disadvantage as well. This gets a yes from me.

    Note: Venom ability goes for 1 min. EMP cd is 30 seconds

    TBH I didn't get venom for PVP, I got it for PVE because of that note. Also the venom ability can be canceled by spearhead's JAM. If the update happens as you describe it, what would be the result from the JAM?
