VPN's

ok, this is a question for one of the techies in D.O. support, and it's about the usage of a VPN when not at home for improved security.

I've been hearing about bans from account sharing. and i'm in the understanding that it's being found out by IP's being different.

I use my personal home network on regular all the time, with no VPN. but when outside and abroad, i use a VPN since it's not my network i'm on while playing, so as to keep better security on all my accounts (i've spent lots of money, and a hacker would be a worst nightmare if i didn't protect myself)

My VPN usage is setup to show a different IP when i use it so as to throw off any relentless attempts at hacking.

Is this possibly going to cause me an issue with D.O. over the whole account sharing bit? if so, i need to know so that i can stop playing outside of my homenetwork so as to avoid calamity.

i'm a player who has never, will never, use or think of using, cheats in any form, nor bots.
also, the fact is that yes, me and my 7 year old brother play my account from time to time. he is never outside my supervision while playing. hopefully that's not an issue?

please let me know, Admins/Forum Officials, because i've been a long time player and would not like to garner negative attention from Support

I can surely tell you that accensing your account from different IP addresses won't be a problem. If DO would use the IP to determine account sharing, than they would ban every player who's ISP doesn't provide a static IP and there are a lot of ISP's who give a dynamic IP to it's customers, that means the IP changes everytime when the modem logs in into their network. And also, we're travelling using different networks to access the internet, so no, they won't do anything to you.

 

What maybe an issue is sharing your account with your little Bro.You probably want to
cease that activity.

 

When I played DO I use to play on friends pcs with no problem, but I never let my brother or anyone else use my account. Account sharing even with your 7 year old brother is against the rules and is ban-able opps.

 

Seems they don't care about acct sharing, they only seem to be bothered about admitting to account sharing so I suggest you edit your post

 

yeah its hard to prove account sharing it only picked up by people admitting it as u have just done well done lol

 

BrownEyes(GOD), We have a number of methods of looking into cases of account sharing. I understand your desire to keep yourself secure, and use of a VPN for legitimate purposes is fine.
As for letting your brother play your account, this is not permitted. The Terms and Conditions you agreed to when creating an account for Dark Orbit state:
8) You will not share your password, let anyone else access your account, or take any other action that might jeopardize the security of your account.
You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for changing your password periodically. And you are entirely responsible for any actions taken by you or anyone you allow to use your account. Therefore, you agree to safeguard your account from access by others. You may not use the account, username, or password of someone else at any time.
