What is Teamspeak?

So on the clan page there is a "teamspeak" address and some clans require this "teamspeak". What is it? Thanks!

 

Teamspeak is a popular third-party-communication programm where you can talk via microphone to other players who are playing with you. The usage of this programm is free for normal users only the renting of an own TS-server would cost money.

Use Google for further informations. Google is in such things much better because you would not have need to wait 2 hours for a response.

 

So Teamspeak can connect to Dark Orbit?

vsc99073, Teamspeak does not connect to DarkOrbit. It is a 3rd party platform independent of DarkOrbit.

So it's just another chat site that can be used for everyday talk.

 

It's not a site, it's a program that needs to be downloaded in order to be used. Pretty much every highly ranked clan in Dark Orbit uses Teamspeak in order to communicate.

 

Essentially, yes. You can type or talk in a Teamspeak server as you would in DarkOrbit chat. The difference is that it is more private, and you can't verbally talk in DO chat, as only a particular clan and allies/friends would be there and it is often easier to say "I'm under attack in the lower right corner" than to type it, and try to fend off the attacker.
