Where would we be now if .........

How to you keep your customers happy ? Well there is another game i play where the company has got this down to perfection . They know exactly what they are doing and they know the importance of keeping players happy , below is a list of things that they do which bigpoint do not do .

1.When ever there is an update to the game there will be a poll on the forum to ask players if they like the update or not , if the response is that the vast majority do not like the update then it will be removed no questions asked .

2.When ever there is any kind of server maintenance or the servers are offline for any reason then every single player is rewarded with actual in-game currency regardless of if they tried to log on that day or not .

3. The forum has a section where you are allowed to talk about anything what so ever as long as it is not related to the game i.e you can talk about any other game on the market and you thread will not be deleted by a mod .

4. They have live support ! If you have any kind of in-game problem you simply click the support button and within minutes you are actually speaking to a member of support who will fix your problem there and then .

5.The home screen is not clustered with half a dozen offers everytime you log on , there is a separate section where all the days offers are located .

6. The forum mods are constantly taking part in game discussions and are also not afraid to give their honest opinion about the game and will often back the players when it comes to bad choices with regards to updates .

7. The game has a built in recording feature meaning you can record at the press of a button and this is then classed as valid evidence if you think someone was cheating you simply contact live support they then play back the video and make a decision there and then .

One of the main things is that they listen to what the players say and have a huge developer/player relationship which means the game just gets better and better as time goes on .

Now you might think this sounds like a game that does not have many players but actually each server is packed and goes all the way up to 1 million players on every single server plus you can check every player to find out when they was last online and how long for .

The game i am talking about is quite possibly one of the most expensive games on the market with certain in-game equipment costing upwards of $1000 per item .
So what i guess im trying to say is where do you think this game would be now if bigpoint had actually listened to the players 3 years ago and removed chance and certain other updates from the game ?

there aint 1mill players per sever offline and online there is 8k players on gb1 thats offline and online

and the forums are 4 this game there is other forms out there you can talk about other gates show me a game that says you can talk about anything tou want thats linked to a game

and you say a support you can talk to (live chat) u say there is 1 mill players per server yea ok then try talking to 1 mill players with a few member's of staff

 

Indeed, there are games much more expensive that have a much more dedicate and faithful player base than DO has had over the last 3 or so years, trouble is people on DO are now so jaded with regards to what happens here its very difficult to regain this faith.

DO has gone from a game that was fun and entertaining at an average monthly cost comparable to other retail off the shelf games to one where you have to spend 2 or 3x as much just to keep up or compete with other similar ranked players simply because of elite ammo an boosters along with all the other kit etc.

Me am off to play other space mmo's that don't see my wallet as just another resource to be exploited as often as possible.

 

Well said. Numbers 1, 3 and 4 are key things.

They could have polls about everything like which event to be destroyed and never seen again, we could get rid of all useless crap in this game. Also when implementing an update, 2 weeks after there would be a poll so people could have had tested it enough to give a good yes or no. And not in forum but in the "home" section of Darkorbit.

Number 2 maybe if it is unannounced, but all games need maintenance sometimes, no need for refunds if it has been told that maintenance will occur at time x before the maintenance.

3! Yes. This is something that creates the good spirit between people. If mods in forums tell you that no no no, you can't speak about that, then it is a big minus for the whole Darkorbit. Some people might play this just because of the forum if you could discuss about anything with your fellow players like climate change or higgs boson or cartoons...

4. Would keep so many noobs in this game for longer, no quitting when they can ask for help, even if they manage to help on person every 10 minutes, 8 hours a day, that is 448 total players helped in a day! (one person can manage that)

5. Agreed, but not a major flaw comparing to others

6. Yeah, mods are only mods though, we mostly need game admins and developers and people like that here. People who press the button to implement stuff to game.

7. Meh, too complicated xD


I'm been here since 2008 and if they had done things differently we could have even more players than we used to...

!!! Merge servers they created servers when numbers of bots grew but now as they are gone servers are empty. I miss it when ge1 had 6k online ... !!!


I don't see price as a problem agree with u 100%, there are games where in order to create a single item with amazing enchants costs +1000$ (and many items can be equipped) and grinding to high level can take YEARS of full time playing. I've spent 100-200€ and currently full havocs, 28lf4 lvl6 & full drones. I know full herc 100% free players.

 

I never said gb1 had a million players !! I said the other game has 1 million per server that is the max the rankings go upto .

A lot of game forums will have a section where you can chat about anything you want

But it does have a live support , like i said you are put in a waiting line and may have to wait a few minutes to be seen . Who said they only had a few members of staff ?

 

The live support is actually available 24/7 unlike on this game where if you have a problem fri you have to wait till monday to get a reply from support lol

 

it was the way you said it well they aint gonna have a few 100 are they for all the servers then a few more 100 for all the other server which aint English

and they admitted they where wrong on the botting subject and left it 2 late but as people have said they left when new client came out some left on bio and loads was removed on botting but then u have to think if some of the updates where not put into game would players stop playing cos they got bored so its hard 2 say where they would be

 

I believe if DO had done what was right for the community & the game,

1.We would have more players than we even had back then.
2.We wouldn't be dealing with this large gap between free and paying players
3.They would have a reputation for being a sound company (the greed and
money grabbing tactics would be minimal) short term profits basicly killed
this game.
4.Not as many cheats.
5.Lastly the game would be much better than when it started,would have a
continuous flow of new space pilots and a game that many many more
people could afford to play. (would also be richer as a company)

 

1.Impossible for them to keep players on this game happy ,there are two reasons for this :

A. Players here want game to enjoy ,which means stability ,improvements,tackling cheats and making game more fun.

B. Neither owners nor developers here are interested in anything that we as players want,all they want is money ..there were few half arsed attempts to engage player base here but that is all it was ..sand in eyes

ergo conflict of interest ..we want fun they want money

2.Here we have "scheduled" maintenance that nobody knows about until servers go down and after that they post something about it

3.I play certain other games where you can talk about everything you like ,including games that are direct competition ...On German Forum for this game you can talk about lots of things that we are not allowed here ...just one example ..future updates ...they can post pictures and rest and until recently you post something like that here and post was deleted.

4. This game doesn't even have dead support let alone Live chat ...once again it comes down to money ...just look who mods are here ..unpaid people that were/are players..system like that encourages corruption ..like in case of admin going nuts and destroying that JPB and 100's accounts ,that kind of thing has been going on for years here.

5.Once again Money ...We all remember good old days when million uri would last you for week of hardcore hunting..when there was somebody to hunt ,now same players are killing each other till their eyes bleed.

6.Forum Mods here (with few exceptions) always did what those above told them ..no dissent ,no bad opinions,no truth allowed..Forum Mods here (once again with few exceptions) have always been biased and had their favorites ...Those that used old forums a lot know what i'm talking about.

7.Built in recording feature is same as raw video(not edited in any way) we can take here ,support here will not accept any kind of footage because they have their "infallible" scripts,same scripts that allowed some to bot and cheat for better part of 6 years.

What you are asking is all good but will never EVER happen here

Remember Producers Dialogue that Sepiroth started ? , lots of great suggestions there ..then they read all that and did opposite

Remember other dialogues ,they should have called them Monologues as we were talking to ourselves

This game and way it treats its players will never change...accept it.

 

I have to wonder if other games by BP are as disastrous as this one. Heck I feel ashamed to let my friends know I used to play this game seriously.

To OP, I can assume only, the game would have been prosperous if they had those implemented from the start.

 

Other games by BP are just as bad or worse.

No to server merges lol. Number 5 also makes me rage quit as soon as I log in so it must be a big problem .

 

Well, for number 5 if you have adblock you can manually block those pop-ups like the daily log in. Exact links to block are below. Plus you can block all the ripoff booty key and log disk deals.
