Whisper bug

If a player has the character " | " in their name and you click their name to whisper them it will not work.

Here is an example, when I click D•Λ•D•D•Y•|ØИΣ| in chat only his name up until the bugged character works:



So to get around it you have to highlight his name in chat and copy and paste it in manually.
If anyone want to test it the | character is created by holding down shift on the key that would normally create \ ( usually either bellow A or backspace on a qwerty keyboard).

I think this has been around for a while but I did a quick search and did see any threads with it yet.

 

i hate people that whisper me with names like this, first im like why cant i whisper them? then i look at the name in the chat box and its nothing close to there actual name -_-

There is also another bug with whisper I'd like to report.
You do the /w <player name> <message>
as normal, but when it pulls up into chat, it will display publicly as something like this:

"KilerStreak: /w Player Hey wanna 1v1?"

Instead of:

"You're whispering to Player:Hey wanna 1v1?"

 

I think you cannot have a space between the "w/" and "player name"....so like this : "w/NAME."

 

I played this for 6 years+, it's always been "/w <player name>"

 

Heh yer right...maybe you typed it wrong in chat, just as I did here.

 

No, I did not type it wrong, next time it happens, I'll cap it.
It just shows up in chat as "KilerStreak:/w Player was up" instead of the normal whisper.

 

Here, bug happened, he-he.

odd, what server is this on KillerStreak ? and is it in any particular chat that it occurs

killer, did you manually type '/w Flave' or click his/her name first? That shouldn't happen

Noticed the '|' issue a while back but someone mentioned they'd report it ages ago. Shocked to see it's still not sorted. (or that person failed to report it)

 

This happens with both, just sometimes.
Click name -> That can happen
Manually -> That can happen
