  1. Hi all, I'm an old player of Darkorbit since 2009 and have seen many changes in the game, some good some bad.
My thought is that the Advanced Jump Chip should be removed from game as it has too many detrimental affects.
It has made all the pvp maps dead unless am event is on. Without it players HAD to fly the maps which meant you would generally end up in some sort of fight.
It's made multi company clans stronger as in any situation they can get help quicker, if they had to fly maybe these multi company clans would think twice.
When we had no AJC the game was more playable and fun and pvp quests easier to do.
So I Say Ditch The Chip!!! DTC

As an AJC user, I wholeheartedly agree with this... although I prefer not having to fly to a port to get to the next map

  3. I can see your point: the MCCs control the servers, and them having access (very quick access) to every map gives them more control over maps.

But look at it this way: If you had to fly from port to port to to go to your designated map, what would stop a MCC from blockading these portals? This was the original argument for the chip when it came out. MCCs would blockade entire companies on their Cubikon map, for example. Since Pirate Maps are inaccessible via JumpChips, you see on some servers a modern day example of how MCCs blockade and control 5-3 for pally fields.

JumpCPU credits aren't that difficult to get a hold of, Spaceball has come on almost every day now and it will for this whole month and I've already made 600+ jump credits in just a week.

The JumpCPU does more good than bad for players, and it actually weakens the MCCs, and lets new players avoid fights by letting them bypass maps that are being invaded.

Also an argument against it - players who want to fight tend to join into clans that fight often. Players who don't avoid such clans or join their secondary clans for the diplomacy. The CPU allows players who don't want to fight to avoid fights and players who want to fight to get to their destination to fight, quicker.

Not sure what the chances are of AJP being removed, but could at least think about restricting it so can only jump to your own companies maps. That would do a lot of things: Makes it harder to invade enemy maps*, gives more meaning to companies, makes it harder for MCC's to dominate a server(since can't easily jump about anymore) etc.

*Could also think about at least restricting a players ability to respawn after death on an enemy map. Say can only "respawn" on an enemy map a limited number of times in a certain time span, or could just get thrown back to your homebase(or nearest neutral/own company map).

When you think about it logically it makes no sense that you are able to jump straight to any enemy map(using AJP), or are able to keep respawing on an enemy map. Though of course games don't need to pay any attention to logic, but there are some positive things that could happen if think about logic in this case.

  6. Good thought, EXCEPT, there are a total of 32 maps in D O and I own more ships than this. With the ability of "PARKING" ships and WARP, even without AJP I could easily be back in your map in a very short time or jumping to the map almost as quickly as the AJP allows NOW. I would think a change could be made that instead of deleting the AJP make it so enemy Lower Maps are restricted but all other, currently available (enemy x-1 and 5-x maps currently locked), maps could be accessed. The difference of using the "PARKED" ship is you know where you are going to spawn whereas the AJP could put you anywhere in the map.

You can only insta-warp to 10 ships. Yes, you can deactivate and reactivate ships at will, but isn't that a bit too much trouble?

My CPU has a habit of putting me as close as it can to the largest group of enemies it can find.
