Next wave of merges

Hello Space Pilots,

The merge between GA3 and GA2 is taking longer than expected, the data is expected to be merged by late this evening (CET).

However, we will wait until the team is back in tomorrow (12/10) morning before conducting the tests and bringing the server back online. We will also be taking a deeper look at this server, in particular, to see why it is taking much longer to merge than the others.

Apologies for this particular merge taking longer than expected.

 

Hello Space Pilots,

The merge between GA3 and GA2 is completed. The problem that caused the merge to take so long has also been identified and sorted.

Don't forget our merges scheduled for October 16th:

• AS1 --> GE7
• GA5 --> GA1
• GA4 --> GA2
• US1 --> US2

Servers undergoing merge will be unavailable for up to 48 hours.

Please remember that trying to access a server during the merge process may prevent you from being able to access the game until you contact support or until the merge process is completed. Also, the auction will be deactivated before the merges begin.

 

Hello Space Pilots,

The following merges have been complete and you should be able to log in:

• AS1 > GE7
• US1 > US2 ​

The following merges are taking still in progress:

• GA5 > GA1
• GA4 > GA2 ​

Unfortunately it seems like these instances will take until tomorrow to come back online, if anything else occurs we will of course keep you up to date.

To help with the speed of the merge, the load balancers for the webnodes are being turned off for these instances whilst they merge. Whilst this will have no effect on the merging of data itself, it will mean that people who attempt to log into these instances will probably just have a white page that does not load, rather than the maintenance page.

 

Hello Space Pilots,

We have experienced some significant issues with the merge of GA5 to GA1 and GA4 to GA2. Ultimately we will have to restart the merge process, our intention is to restart today. We hope for it to be finished later Friday evening or on Saturday, we will have part of the team coming in over the weekend to help get this final merge sorted if needed.

Of course, we are aware this is a massive pain for the players, we are planning to run a nice login bonus for everyone a short while after merges are complete, however, we will add something extra for these instances due to this unusually long downtime.

We're happy to bring you the good news that the merges of GA5 > GA1 and GA4 > GA2 are complete. This now concludes our final server merge.

It's been a long process for the team and we're looking forward to creating content to make best use of the now more active servers, of course our first priority is the improvement of server performance and this is actively being worked on as well as getting the inactive accounts merged.

We also have to say a big thanks to our players for waiting patiently as the various merges from start to finish were underway, we appreciate there have been some bumps along to way, but we're excited for some of the updates coming in the not too distant future.

We are happy to let you know that the script to merge inactive accounts has started on all EU instances. We do not have an estimate for when they will be done but will update you when more information is available. This process could possibly impact the performance of the servers, but we expect minimal issues.

Hello everyone,

On Monday, 26th November there will be some maintenance on the Global America 1 and 5 databases, this is to start the inactive user merge script.

The downtime is expected to last from 9:30AM – 10:00AM CET, during this time players will not be able to access these instances.

The script to merge the inactive user script will take multiple weeks to complete.

As the inactive merge scripts continue to run, we must ask you to please avoid changing servers. There is a very high risk of your account becoming stuck on an inactive server and we would be unable to assist you. Please keep the following in mind:

1. Please be careful and do not switch to a different server when you are playing an active server
2. We will not be able to assist you with our tools to set you back to your active server

Update: Inactive accounts

The scripts are still running in the background but we are also well aware of the problems that users are stuck on an instance where the scripts aren’t finished yet. Therefore we created a workaround to make it possible for the players to switch back to their active instance after being stuck somewhere on another instance.

So now, if you choose „server“ on the website, you will be able to choose the instance where you played and to switch back again to your active user account. This guarantees that even if players are stuck on some servers, they can now try to switch back on their own until the whole merge of inactive accounts is finished.
