  1. I've been wondering, what version requires the most computing resources?

You would normally think the 3D version is the heaviest one, but I have noticed that the 2D version shows more lag during spaceball than the 3D (maybe it is just me?)

    Does anyone know?

2D is more resource intensive because the majority of it runs off your CPU.

In the 3D mode however, it can make use of your GPU's power a lot more than the 2D can so the resources are spread more evenly, causing less fps lag.

To add to the above there are also machines that have AMD APU's (Accelerated Processing Unit) this is a hybrid GPU and CPU that maintains a good degree of performance while in 3D mode and in 2D mode will perform slightly better than a normal CPU.

  4. Did they fix the issues with 3D? I kept having to log out after portal jump to get my map to load again. After reporting it to SUPPORT and getting nothing form them I chose to stick with the 2D and its other related problems.

  5. I use 3D and have since introduction. Never had any issues, knock on wood.
Sounds like ( according to latest DO email survey) 2D is on its way out.................
