    When setting up a clan and you have the clan name below your ship etc.
    Is there a period before anyone else can join the clan??

    only if the person joining just left a clan, then theirs a waiting period for that person.

    Once you make a clan, players can ask to join. However if they just left a clan, there is a wait period.
