[GI] Drone Formations

Hello DO,
Regarding Drone Formations, can someone define the terms so that even I can understand them please?

Shield Strength, Shield Power, Shield Points, Shield Penetration, Shield Absorption, Shield Leech, Shield Spread

All taken from Forum tutorial pages and the Shop descriptions.

If you have 90% absorption, do you get 110% (I'm guessing not)? So, do strength, power, and points refer to the same thing? Penetration refers to the enemy's shields and absorption refers to mine. Leech is the same as drain. Spread, I'm still unsure of. How much do I have right?

 

If you use for example, crab formation, it gives you 20% shields absorption, that means your shields will become more targeted thing than HP.

Lets say im doing always 50 000 DMG every x4 shoot (so you can better imagine that)
Lets also say you have 500 000 shields and 300 000 HP .
Lets also say im using only lasers and not any other ammo.

Your shields are taking damage 92% of 100% Damage if you have its pilot bio.
Also known as 92/8.

Absorption is opposite of penetration.
Absorption absorbs enemys dmg to shields. Penetration ignores % of enemys shields.

So if i shoot you 3x, you will take 150 000 DMG - i am using STANDARD formation.
= [Shield/hull = 92/8] It means ill do 12000 DMG to hull and 138 000 to shields. - you using STANDARD formation.

So if i shoot you 3x, you will take 150 000 DMG - i am using STANDARD formation.
= [Shield/hull = 112/0] It means ill do 0 DMG to hull and 150 000 to shields. - you using CRAB formation. 20% absorption.

So if i shoot you 3x, you will take 150 000 DMG - i am using MOTH formation. 20% penetration.
= [Shield/hull = 92/8] It means ill do 12000 DMG to hull and 138 000 to shields. - you using CRAB formation. 20% absorption.

So if i shoot you 3x, you will take 150 000 DMG - i am using MOTH formation. 20% penetration.
= [Shield/hull = 72/28] It means ill do 42000 DMG to hull and 108 000 to shields. - you using STANDARD formation.


So yes if you have 90% absorption and you use crab it increases it to 110%, hovewer 100% is max. Anyways if you use crab against moth it deletes each other bonus. So its again 90%. If you use crab against double arrow formation, it should be at 102% so its back at 100% and double arrow has no effect in the fight.

Shield leech in barrage is like opposite of crab formation If you use barrage formation you lose 15% absorption that means enemy player will hit your HP 15% more likely than shields.

Laser spread means enemy dmg will do 5% more damage to your hp.

 

I can imagine over 100% shields would increase my strength with damage taken which would make the game just silly, but I digress...

I want to thank you for responding to my question. I could have mentioned in the beginning that I had a couple thousand hours in the game and had searched Shop descriptions followed by the FAQ INDEX where I found Astraea's tutorial on Drone Formations that you partially pasted. It was further on in there that I found most, but not all, of the seven terms associated with shields.

Strength, Power, Points, Penetration, Absorption, Leech and Spread

Some of these terms, Strength-Power-Points, seem to be redundant in that they are used synonymously to refer to the same thing. Accepted, moving on. Penetration-Absorption are not associated with my or the enemies ship in any definition; I can easily infer that if it's a 'good thing' for me, penetration means damaging my opponent but when researching, I don't want to guess; I want to be told specifically.
Shield Leech is also used as a Tech item that drains my opponents shields which further confuses but I will substitute Drain for Leech as damaging my shields. Shield Spread, I have no clue. Laser Spread I have not found but your definition is reasonable for that.
It's all about putting the same picture in your head into the heads of others with the use of words. Not as easy as it sounds. Unless anyone has anything more to clarify these terms, I think I have sufficient understanding and you can close.
