i dont understand what the ranking mean on the pilot page means can you explain? thanks

It is where you are sitting in the Top User Ranks for your server. This is different than the ranking you have for the title you carry as it is for the company and the Top User is the entire server. If I remember correctly it is a calculation of your Experience/1000 and Honor/100 and takes the NPC and Player kills out of the equation.

This is also why there was such turmoil in the system when they corrected the Honor from those who exploited the bug allowing them to collect extra Honor.

That page allows other players to see you in a glance as far as how long and well you have played D O.

To, me Rank means nothing... its all about your ship what you have in it.... Rank will not make you hit any harder.... However, the only thing Rank does is let you get more game currency "credits" when you sell resources and maybe if you become a General which can take years, then you may get more HP but other than than I see no use in Rank.

 

And you actually don't get anything.

 

Rank is just that, it is putting you in the ranks of ALL players on the server. The only thing that helps you in the game is Honor and it increases the amount ore is worth (up to 500K Honor, Prom to 1000 per unit) anything over 500 K Honor does nothing except help your placement in the ranks.

Rank has ONE and only ONE purpose and that is bragging rights, you are in the top 1000 of a game with over 5000 players in it (assuming your server has 5000 players). You are right it has nothing to do with your ship, the equipment you have in it, how hard you hit, how long you will stay in a fight, or how well you will do in a fight. But then it does deter some people from attacking another ship as they are assumed to be stronger the higher their rank is, I will not attempt to attack a full shield rank with my 2 stripe ship.

 

To understand how the ranking system works and how points are awarded you must first click on rank on your back page and this will show you your present rank and the estimated amount of points you need to move up a rank and the points that players have for the rank below you, there is also a full breakdown of the points you have earned and any minus points. You will also find a list of all the points that can be awarded from NPC's and ship kills. In today's DO rank is an ego trip and many players have got high ranks from just spamming gates and in theory a non UFE player could have a very high rank and rank position in the rank list by just doing gates. Back in the old days before the sky lab rank had more meaning because you had to work hard to go up the ranks, you needed to collect rocks and kill NPC's and players to put prom on shields, lasers and speed gens. Gate spamming was not an option then as there were only 3 gates, Alpha, Beta and gamma and they were hard to finish as you needed to to prom up while in the gate so you could keep ahead of the prots at the end; also once inside the gate you could not get out until you finished the gate or died.

 

It's meant to show your position in top user ranking, however roughly between 12am - 2am server time it will bug out and drop the final number in your ranking.
So if you were 58th in top user then your pilot page would show you as 5th during those hours. Anyone who is top 9 appears with no number at all.

If you check it now it shows you your proper position in ranks.

 

As every thing you have stated is true for the company ranking system, it does not pertain to the rank points of his picture. He is asking about the Top User Rank Points, which has nothing to do with the company rank points that you have explained. I always thought the 2 were the same but as I stated earlier the T U R is calculated strictly on Experience and Honor.
