[GI] Is barrage worth buying if theres the bat formation

Title pretty much, since hunting npcs doesnt require speed...

Formations are currently on sale, debating on buying barrage/daimond - no need for moth yet, so yeah..

 

If you have drill, you needn't both (barrage and bat). But I would buy diamond.

Drill is in all aspects better than Bat. The extra XP and honor is useless.

 

I disagree, bat provides 8% increase in total damage opposed to drill having 20% damage to lasers ONLY... and if ur cubing the 25% reduced shield power of drill is definitely a consideration. Im assuming the reduced 5% shield spread of drill means greater penetration to ship HP as well. Probably not too big a deal killing sibs in lowers, but like I said cubing and definitely doing uber quests...i like having the extra total damage without the other penalties. Some people would disagree with honor being useless, especially people trying to rank up. IMO nice damage bonus with no down side..well worth !!

I use the Bat formation always on NPC.
I fly Surgeon so I benefit 8% more damage from Bat and also 6% from ship. (not counting any boosters, Promi or Sep)

If using Goliath with 1 G3N-7900 speed generator and promerium (promi) on speed gens
I find the 15% speed loss from Bat is a perfect speed for doing 80 small kris and 80 small sib in gates. Ship stays just ahead of the pack making it easy to just drag them across the map. Using mini map to cruz

Some times on big boss or uber stuff I will use the Drill Formation to drop them down faster and just before NPC pops I change to Bat for the extra EP.

Surgeon
• +6 % damage
• +6 % honor
• +6 % experience

Add Bat formation.. 8% more damage and 8% more experience. You do the math hahaha.

Barrage Formation gives 5% and 5%

So how to you get the Bat formation and what is the downside of the Bat formation?

 

Barrage is still good, if you make quests and want to get 5% more xp from the rewards.
Cause the Bat Formation dont give you an xp bonus for quest rewards ^^

 

dont buy either just get the drill or ring

 

Bat Formation comes on sale once in a while you just have to keep checking the "Shop/drones"

Only down side I guess would be the 15% loss of speed. But if you suddenly need top speed to chase or escape simply change formations while switching to speed configuration. Personally I don't find it a down side. The speed reduction comes in handy if applied correctly.​

Bat formation has historically only been out for purchase during Halloween events. The only down side to Bat formation is -15% movement speed.
