[GI] Ore collection mission

Why is it that some mission I have to physically collect the ore one by one and for other mission I can collect it from alien ore.

For the example the event mission I have to collect 1000 Trebium and 1500 Endurim but in some normal quest i can just collect 200 Trebium just form alien ore

 

If you look at the mission overviews on collection missions if you see the different rocks pictured for a mission then you have to collect individual rocks to the amount specified by the mission parameters, if rocks are not show in the mission overview then you can collect from alien cargo in the norm missions were you collect from cargo drops the ore is generally ore that can only be obtained from cargo. Some missions are made in such that you have to collect large numbers or ore by collecting rocks to give the mission a degree of difficulty to get higher than normal rewards if you look at the value of the log disc's for the event mission they value at 1500 uri plus the other rewards for that mission.

 

Have you tried collecting Cargo boxes while the quest is open? Usually the event Quests are collect from Cargo Drops which is why so many of us are upset when they run Assembly and Ultra Booty days at the same time.

In the dailies it will say sell such amount and others collect, the sell comes from cargo boxes and the latter from each rock ( I think that is correct )

It took me about an hour to finish it ( rock by rock ) made fun by going into enemy maps

And to HMHY of course if you own it you can sell it

 

You can sell any of the ore in your cargo hold whether individually collected or from cargo drops or SkyLab transfer, make sure you are not refining the ore you need to sell. The actual collection of ores is however DO has chosen to set it in the programming. They have had some event quests where any collection (ore or cargo) counted, they have had them where you were collecting everything with one cargo drop, they have even told us to collect prometium in maps where it is not available (showing the rock) when we all know you can only find these in x-1 or x-2 maps, the response from support was to try a cargo box but the raw ore was still in x-4 map (but I have never seen it there) it turned out I was able to collect from NPC's even though it specified actual rocks in the quest.

The only way to really know how you are supposed to collect the ore is to see if you get credit from picking a cargo box and if not then it is strictly the raw materials floating in space. So it does not matter how they specify it in what we see it is however they set the programming to count it.
