[GI] pets won't go far to collect pally?

OK so i'm a free player and the general consensus is that if you aren't built for boxing then, then you should pally for energy. I like to chat a lot so I'm trying to get it so my pet can collect pally while i chat but when I sit outside the pally field, the pet more often than not just sits besides me. I have 4 lvl 3 radar protocols and lvl 3 auto resource collector and lvl 9 pet. I'm not sure if buying more radar protocols will address this issue and make it idle a lot less. When I use enemy locator it seems like my pet is more than capable of seeing half the map. But it seems like if pally is like 1/4 a map away, the pet won't collect.

 

seems like once the pet collects something it looks for you if it sees a item to pick up within its range it will if it dont it will head your way looking for items along the way. depending on the range of your radar prots at the end of your radar range pet will ignore items and fly back twords you till within range then start looking for items to pick up again if your pet sees no items it will park next to you untill an item comes withing its seeing range.

so to put it simple radar just effects how far away you can be from your pet before it stops collecting to get back in the radar range. but when a pet is looking for a item to collect it has to be within the pets sight range what that is i don't know but you can fly the pet back into pally field and go back to edge or run back and forth across the bottom

this is my view on pet behavior not saying its right just what ive seen seems to happen

 

Thing to remember is you pet as a 360 degree radar view, if you are sat were the 360 degree is obscured then your pet will only have reduced radar. For optimal use you should always have a full circle covered of your search area and move around a bit because once it as collected all it can see within its circle of view it will return to your ship.

 

All you need is 2 LvL 3 radar and 1 Auto-resource collector LvL 3. DO took away (nerfed) the distance (regardless of radars) so, it basically collects what is near to your ship. Also, you have to move around - you can't stay put sadly

I have tried 3 and 4 radars and it doesn't really collect more from a distance - To collect you gotta just go running around the map if you want to go that route.

The radar prot. is more like a leash than extended radar for the P.E.T.s range

Thank you everyone for assisting the user with their concern. In-game experience my PET only collects resources/boxes within my screen when idle and does not collect anything off my screen if I am idle while chatting or afk, personal thought I believe the PET collects off screen if flying through out the map/field as stated by yellowsubmarine. Purchasing more Radar Protocols will increase the Radar range of our PET as which they become much useful with the Enemy locator and Resource locator gears.

Do you the Original Poster have any further questions/concerns or may we close the thread?
