[GI] Red Bigpoint Bigboy

I was on GE1 checking out the Cold Wave 2015 which is due to come to my server in several hours like i always do with every event that comes into the game, and while i was wandering around i met up with this guy.

This is the special Red Bigboy Bigpoint design which i think it was released in the game back in 2007 or 2008 maybe, i don't really know, alongside with the Green Bigboy Bigpoint design, and both of them were part of a TV commercial campaign (yes, Darkorbit did have a TV commercial, only in Germany though), and in order to obtain them you had to buy something, a magazine with a CD i think, and with that CD you could have gotten them, i don't know how.

Back in 2011 i found an exploit in Darkorbits backpage which with a bit o fiddling with the code would allow you to purchase the Red Bigboy Bigpoint design. I've reported the exploit at that time, the exploit was patched and all my test accounts with the design were permanently banned, although i did get a decent reward for that on my main account.

Now, my question is, does the exploit found another way to manifest itself or the player has the design from the original CD? The account in question is registered back in 2007 so it can be genuine.

And as far as i'm aware, the green bigboy design was completely removed from the game. This is an old picture of it for anyone who hasn't heard of it:

P.S.: I do know that WIZ rockets do give this effect sometimes, but this is not the case.

Odds if the player's account was registered in '07, then they most likely bought the promo package available back then for the design, since it hasn't been on sale since.

 

A rare find this was only available on CD either as a promo give away in magazines or purchased from limited media stores in Germany, this special skin came out early in 2007 just after the release of DO and first seen on DE1 before GE1 was launched. If you google you can still find the original unused CD's offered for sale that are still valid.

Red BigBoy: Years back darkorbit had a CD to load demo version of the game before it was made into browser game. Although your ship can be turned into a Red bigboy when you are wizzed by someone but the effect is temporary.

Green Bigboy: This kind of design existed way back. Please check the below quote:

why don't they ever offer past designs like the red big boy et. al ? if they continue to offer designs with just a cosmetic effect, then they should be able to offer past ones.

 

Since the release of DO and the revamps the models they have used have also been revamped for better poly counts and better visuals for the game graphics, most if not all the original models are no longer used and there UV texture maps are not mapped out for newer models. making a new UV texture map takes time both in there 3D software and photoshop.

 

think you still can buy the designs from amerson i got the goli one where u get the sell cargo drone 5k x4s 20 lf2 same with bigboy just looked at amerson you can still buy them but becus d/o have change theire cliant it mite not work u have to ask suport b4 u buy them

 

I know all about these designs. My question was if the design was obtained in an unfair manner. I have made some tests and i can't find a way in which the exploit to get this design for free might manifest itself again, so i guess it is a genuine purchase from back then.

When I got my Orange Goli called Amber now, it was available for purchase on a CD. Came with unlimited trade drone, perhaps the very best purchase I've ever made on this game.

I would love to get that Red Bigboy though.

I'll just keep wizzing myself when I get the urge to be a Red Bigboy lol.
