  1. What happened to the Users Online button?

  2. There was a button?

Way back in the old days the number of users online used to show on the back page and was a good way to see if it was worth the risk of bidding in the auction, that's when a lot of players went bankrupt and had to go out collecting twice as hard.

  4. Hmmm, now having that would maybe help get people to actually play, if nothing else but to see who those players are.

  5. Must have been a LONG time ago as I can't seem to remember it and I started 5 years ago. But it would be a nice thing to see, I have even suggested it as a method of selecting a server when starting a NEW account. Going one farther would be to have a counter for the ones logged in (doing forums and back page stuff) and In-Game so we knew how many are actually in the maps/chat. And just for kicks have a reset-able counter (that we can see HISTORY of) for daily activity of both.

    added

I am thinking more for server activity and seeing if it is active enough to play or not, some like a busier server and others like it to be empty so as to not have to worry about being popped as much.

There was a button yes, think it went when the new client came out, you can still see how many have live (maybe) accs on server, and who is on chat :)

user online used to be a good when credits were lost if you lost the bid
    however
i don't see the point now as if you lose the bid, you can still get back your credits

  8. /users in global chat will give you a list of all users using global chat if that works for you.

  9. Yes back in th days you could easily see how many people were online. However that changed
after the first exodus. DO/BP felt it would be better if players couldn't see how many people had
actually left the game. One could argue they may have been quite embarrassed about the numbers
so they took it out of plain sight. There use to be away to check server numbers. don't know if still
works after all the changes. Most newer players don't realize how populated servers were. On the
servers I played it was common on week days to have 1500 to 2000 players on during primetime:cool:.
on the weekends server population could get close to 3000:eek:(the lag was terrible lol) so was my PC.

I remember a time when there was more than one 3 star :)

  11. I think you had to type /users in to global chat and that gave you the the numbers , but that was years ago and i may have got it wrong

  12. AHH the good old days ......Anyways the number of people on a server used to be shown proudly on the main backpage....It was removed with the new client as Dark said. YOU CAN still see who is on your server by typing "/users" and hitting enter in main chat. That has always been the case and does still work. It doesn;t give you a number, it simply lists all the players names.

What you're say DOES still work right now. What people are referring to, is the game used to tell you on the main backpage the exact number of users, now it does not.

It does list the number of live accs tho, altho those accs may not be playing.

  14. well the old number was a number with how many players where logged on into the backpage (not even on the game) , downside of /users is if you are playing a global server , there could be 10 ppl on chat and 2000 more on other chats.

  15. Yeah Chem that's true. It only shows the people in that specific chat window. you can check the company chat and do the same, but you can't see how many enemy players there are in their respective chats.

Still its better than nothing, and it's good to be able to see the list of names so you know who is online, not just a number.

  16. Think u will find that the users in company chat also show in global chat regardless of which window they have open. They don't show if they disable chat tho.

They removed it because it's embarrassing to see that only 30 players are playing in 1 server
