LF 4 Upgrade Question

    LF 4 upgrades to lvl 16 hit the same no matter if they are on ship or drones. What is the purpose of putting upgraded LF 4's ? there is no bonus for LF 4s just level they give you 50 more points of fire power each for 35 LF4s that is just a 1,750 hitting difference in fire power.

    I have put my Level 16 LF 4' s on ship and they hit just like a lvl 1 when I put them on drones is when I see not much difference...

    But as far as ship goes, I don't think that the upgrade works on it which I think maybe a waste of uri to put anything upgraded on ship.

    Your friend is wrong.

    LF4 hits 200 while an LF3 hits 150. The percent increase, while small, adds up. Yes, you only hit 1,750 more damage than non upgraded (if your math is correct), however, what if you have Sep and RSB? 1,750*6= 10,500*.6=16,800 more damage. That is a lot of damage for upgrades.

    We know that the upgraded LF 4 has 50 more hit points then none upgraded none upgraded LF 4 hit 200 and upgraded hit 250... So the Math is correct if you multiply 35 LF 4s x 50 more hit points for all 35 lvl 16 LF 4 u get 1,750
    the regular LF 4 is always going to be behind 1750 no matter what u add

    Regular LF 4 with x 1 with no rocks or boosters is going to give u 7,000 in a Goli and less on a ship that has less gun slots, thats with 35 none level LF 4s of course if you add up boosters and so on it will go up.

    for the Level 16 you get 8,750 in hitting power thats 1,750 more hit points, to get that imagine the uri u have to spend to upgrade that

    So, none upgraded will always hit 1,750 less

    Someone correct me if I am wrong

    First, let us establish some basic facts. A level 16 upgrade on a laser will yield a 6% damage bonus.

    Level 1 LF-3 = 150
    Level 16 LF-3 = 159

    Level 1 LF-4 = 200
    Level 16 LF-4 = 212

    For a rather hefty price of 104,250 (100% chance of upgrading) per item, you will notice that the damage increase is minimal. However true that may be, even a small bonus will increase your total.

    Quite a few things in DO revolve around percentages rather than set figures. If you get the base number high enough, the percentile increase has a much greater effect.

    If you were hitting 10,000 then a 6% increase would only increase that to 10,600. If you were hitting 100,000 then a 6% increase you grant you 6,000 extra damage. At some point in time (usually when a ship is close to UFE status), you will be hitting high enough figures for the 6% increase to make a major difference.

    In short, upgrades are an essential part of the game but their expense and minimal returns make them inefficient for players who aren't already utilising top tier items. You would also do well to upgrade drones first as they cover two slots instead of one (with the exception of flax drones).
