[SC] Euro Space Cup

The team selected is rather spontaneous - do we not get the option to vote who participates? I'd rather not have another shamble of a team represent the UK.

Or at least can we elaborate on the selection process..

I cannot participate due to the dates but I do have an interest in who will represent the UK.

There wasn't a whole lot of time to sort out qualifying rounds for this one, and given that it starts in a merely matter of days there isn't time to drop and change the entire process all through thus far. If there's more tourneys like this in the future maybe then we can see what happens. I definitely wouldn't rule out some sort of qualifiers if there are more in the future, but of course they would still be time, ability and opportunity permitting.

In any case, for this time through, teams signed up and we chose ours at random; so what we can do for this one is to root for the teams going ahead

It's completely random for every country so I think the tournament is wide open considering how the best players from each nation weren't necessarily chosen - if they were would we have much of a chance? Only 1 UK fighter is regarded as one of the best by other nations.

 

Why? With your theory of how teams should be selected, it would always be the same 'known' players on the server getting selected, thus not giving others a chance.

Random selection makes it fair, to give everyone that would like to participate an equal chance of being chosen to.

 

I don't think you can justify random selection on the basis of fair play. It is a competition and like the real European championship it is the best players that are selected for their country.

You're forgetting that this is a game, where many play. So in-game competitions such as this must offer a fair way of selection which would grant every player the chance of participating. Which random selection grants, as it doesn't rule anyone out. Whereas having players simply 'vote' who they would like to take part - would rule out a - lot of players, and so making it unfair.
With that in mind, you the European Championship isn't a suitable comparison, even though both events are related. As one is real, where-as the other is simply a game.

 

The whole issue is this was a spur of the moment Event and was not thoroughly thought out and thus WE as PLAYERS had no say in what happened for the teams except the moderators for each language forum selected a team as they saw fit. Many suggestions have been made to have created a fair method of creating teams but time was of the essence and they felt this was the only way to have the event happen without delaying it for team creation.

 

Maybe make this a yearly event Flash?

Make qualifying rounds for it months prior?

If they can do this, then they can do it on a bigger stage, maybe? So have a big clan war instead, 10v10 clan vs clan on the server, then the winners of the server then get entered into a bigger one against other servers representing their server.

 

Would Love to see a Server World Cup event, where qualifying rounds could be decided through like a ( 1 vs 1s ) Server Jackpot battle thing but done the month before the Server World Cup event and the top 5 players or top 7 players ( for the 5 vs 5 with 2 subs) would make the Server World Cup team, then the team would go to the Server World Cup (event would be 5 vs 5 with 2 subs). This way, every server would have a team and the best fighters would be picked. Well that would be my view and would love to see

 

I think you should enter a team, and do it in a 5v5 format to enter, some people are better at hunting in groups, but doing a 1v1 tournament would be interesting, and i'd like to see a 10v10 and possibly 20v20 give people more opportunities

 

All sports are games - I'm not quite sure what point you are trying to make.
