Hey guys, unsure if this is the right place to post this, but the Argon, Legend, and Lava G-Champion designs have different laser animation loops than the base G-Champion. It's a bit off-putting, as I was expecting a constant stream of lasers like the other Goliath variants, rather than "bursts." I play with sound on, so it makes it more prominent.

Is this a client-side issue, or is this how the ships were designed?

    Thanks

  2. I would guess this is either a client-side or PC spec issue. Watching other Darkorbit players on YouTube with respectable PC specs, their lasers shoot smoothly, both in 2D and 3D.

For me, I experience smooth gameplay for a few mins, but once my laptop thermal throttles a tad bit, it's enough to do things like lower FPS and "chop up" my laser shots.

All depends on you. If you have a solid PC build (for Darkorbit, you need a CPU that excels in single-threaded performance, and 8 GB RAM, depending on your browser choice), and an excellent internet connection, it may be client-side for you.

hm, i'm not sure. I run on a good PC with a good CPU, and i play in 3D. I have a GTX 1070 with a Ryzen 5 1600 6core. I think it may be a client-side issue. Funny thing is, the other Goliath variants, even the base G-Champion, have the normal firing cycle. It's odd.

On that note, now that 2D has been brought up, I do notice that all ships only register one sound effect for a laser firing sequence. All other shots are silent until the animation loops again. It only occurs in 2D mode, not in 3D. Is this also a client-side issue? I use google chrome to play DarkOrbit, if that helps. Thanks for the response, as well!

  4. Yeah, that's how the audio is as you mentioned in both 2D and 3D.

As for your CPU, it is good. Are you able to play at 60 FPS with maxed settings with intense firefights?

Darkorbit only uses a single core on a CPU (because Flash-Player), hence requiring very good single core performance.

You'd need at least an Intel i7-7700K, whereas Ryzen's best would be the TR 2920X, but still scores well below the 7700K.
Note: I am basing this off TerrorTheLegend's PC build

If Flash had multi-core support, those CPUs would be utter overkill for the game, but unfortunately, it can't.

    Hi,

Are you still experiencing this issue?

I tried on my personal ship and did not have any issues.

Please clear your cache and let me know if this solves your issue.

    Thanks

@KilerStreak Yeah, I play with a solid 60 fps, with hardly any hiccups until the map starts filling up, and even then it is quite stable. It's a shame that I can't make use of more cores. But for the most part, the game runs great on max.

@EvilHotDog I cleared my cache, but I still get the same issue on my G-Champion designs (not the base G-Champion, however). I think it might just be how the designs were made, but I could be wrong. The specific pattern with the designs is 3 laser shots, and then a pause before it starts firing again. The base G-Champion fires continuously with no pause, and the same goes for the other Goliaths.

    Thanks again for the responses!
