[TI] hotkeys issue

i been having this issue for months now
everytime i spam (while fighting ) theres time when my hotkeys (123456789 f1 f2 f3 f4 f5 f6 f7 f8 f9 ) doesn't switch over but i can change confi while that is happening i type in chat (work normal) but try to switch hotkeys still dont work until like 10-15 second later . i tried cleaning cache dont work new keyboard same thing.

any help please.

 

It sounds like the same issue that was reported in this thread, seems it still hasn't been fixed(of course say if your issue is slightly different). As stated in that thread it seems to get triggered by spamming hot keys that have ammo on them and also merely just spamming the same hot key.

There seems to be two things that it can cause: 1: Can't change ammo/shoot at anything, and 2: Can't use quick slots/action bar at all. I made a little video of it as well just so can see it in action:


(I forgot to minimize chat, but luckily no one was chatting anyway. >.>)

I'm sure if I stopped spamming for a little it would let me shoot again, but keeping on spamming seems to be a reliable way to get everything to lock up. Also just to note: I have the shortcut bar able to start attacks enabled, and also double clicking or pressing the "Laser attack" key still can't shoot*.


*Referring to the part in the video where changing/pressing ammo hot keys lasers wouldn't shoot. I have tried it on different browsers(Firefox/Chrome/Edge) as well to try see if this issue as a whole is browser specific, but doesn't seem to be.

Though upon further testing it seems to just get triggered if you spam hot keys(or manually clicking) in general, to some degree. Spamming laser ammo can make it so can't shoot/change ammo but other stuff doesn't(as in they just lock everything up), maybe more to this but my hand needs a rest now off all this lol.

 

Nice info Kyro, I have this behavior happening on US East 1 every time, without any spamming, when my minimap looks like this:

And that is about 50% of the time. I noticed that such problems are much more frequent on US than EU instances though I can't explain why is this the case.

EDIT: I was able to reproduce it on GB 1 using only 2 slots (as described in referenced thread) and the only way to fix it, besides waiting, was to remove laser ammo from quick slots and put it back there. Surely not the most convenient way to make it work again, but can be much faster than waiting for about 15 seconds.

I have experienced the inability to attack. Even though I have a locked target. I have to lock on something else, then click on the original target to continue attack.

Sometimes the problem results because I last left the pointer in the chat text box. But this condition doesn't explain all of the instances.
Sometimes the problem results because I unexpectedly, clicked the num lock button. (the other set of numbers). The frequency of this sequence doesn't anywhere account for the condition, either.

In my case clicking into the chat window and then outside would sometimes freeze everything for about 30 seconds. But when it took more than a minute before things "unfroze", then nothing worked and ship started moving by itself and without control. I was watching at my ship going horizontally straight into the radiation zone till it popped, and was unable to do anything about it.
I have these problems on 2 different machines and 3 different browsers, as I stated in another thread but my post got deleted for some reason. There is extremely low probability that such problem is on my side as the machines ran different OSes and one of them was running in 32-bit mode.
However, I haven't yet experienced this issues after the new chat was introduced so I can't claim the problem is still there. Unfortunately, I was never able to figure out key press sequence that triggers these problems, but is probably connected to quick slot issue as the freeze ("reversible" or ship going on its own) always happened shortly after keys and slot assignments were modified.

Have forwarded this issue before and what we can say is if you use the hot-keys correctly there would be no problem.
