  1. Okay the title says it all. I logged in today and it took 5 times longer to load up than normal and when it did load I had to REFRESH the screen to be able to get the page loaded instead of a bunch of TEXT. Not only did I need to reload my passwords (as stated in Headquarters Notice about the change) but the SECURE CONNECTION takes forever to be established.

Is this what we can expect for the next year like any major changes has proven to take to be fixed?

  2. Another item to go along with this is the logout page no longer loads up with pictures like it used to. I hope the secure site will fix the DDoS attacks and server access issues, but currently I see nothing but more issues with this update.

    Hello,

I've had no issues with the login loading time, and I haven't heard any particular issues or complaints of the loading until yours. & logout page is same as ever for me, I just checked incase I missed it this morning.

It may be worth trying another browser and all that.

Although I have to say, I would take an additional moment of loading for the connection & my data being sent be secured anyway. I can't imagine how more secured browsing is really a bad thing anymore either way.

    Regards,

  4. I agree the SECURE may be a good thing. The issue seems to be a further complication with Flash Player and browsers that have changed away from the add-on version and automated update system. It does seem to have been an initial change over issue as the second time of loading up and closing down it did work properly, even though the browser history, Flash and Java Caches had been deleted/cleared.

The additional time in seconds is fine but when I can go to the bathroom and come back and still waiting for a connection is not a good thing. As not everyone frequents the Forum and we can no longer access it without having an account it is going to cause even more people to have issues with their account if they used "Saved Logins" to sign in and do not know where to find them. This change may have been better announced in the Newsletter System instead of the Forum.

I signed into my 4 accounts this morning and all of them gave me the same problem the first time I logged in. I wish I could get your Comodo Dragon Browser to load on my computer, but I seem to be missing a .dll file that only loads on initial OS install.

Personally i've never used the comodo dragon browser, not with any seriousness anyway. I mainly use firefox, and even this morning things logged in pretty smoothly across my accounts. I'm not sure why it might have taken minutes for you earlier, but it's also possible DO may have been having *a moment* earlier when you tried.

As for the forum, I think it's fair to announce it here. Truthfully more players visiting the forum would not necessarily be a bad thing. Not everything necessarily "fits" in the backpage contexts, and not everyone receives email newsletters, so encouraging people to check forums even if they just want to check for announcements can go a long way to helping the community at large stay informed on some matters.

    Regards,

Firefox works fine for me also. I had trouble with Chrome. Both browsers are up to date.

  7. With all the information of the game, some information has to load into the cache. This can take time, and seems to happen each time there is a major update. In this case the information has to learn its coming from a different connection, and while some players that log in from different locations like me (work, library, home), this is like another world for our computers and the game. I have had the same issues but feel until everything is established between the computer and the server, it shall be this way. Yesterday it was horrendous, but today I have 3 our of 4 browsers that seem to lock in at least 3/4 of the time.

Solid_Eye is fortunate, having log in securely for a while, but I have to ask if your talking about for your mod account or your user account?

I log in the same way as anyone potentially can for the game (keeping in mind some people log in through sources like syfy, etc). Mod stuff is mostly separate in it's way, but my game accounts I log in through the main DO home page

    Regards,

  13. Sounds good. I do a lot of refreshing now. A whole lot of refreshing.

  14. I have now used 3 different browsers (Chrome, Opera and Maxthon) and I have so much trouble I can not even process my SkyLab Transfer without wasting 10 minutes waiting for my page to refresh. I did find that the first time I used a browser the page had problems loading the graphics and put everything up as text instead.

I have tried doing this also and end up with a black page for most of the time I am waiting for the page.

  15. It may be worth changing your DNS server to Google's public DNS server instead of the autoassigned one which is given to your modem/PC to use by default by your ISP when your modem first syncs to the internets.

The loading time can be down to the DNS server, as you change page or refresh a page, your browser requests the page to be resolved into a name instead of an IP, the quality of the DNS server you are using may be poor, as most ISP based ones are.

So yeah, search google for "Google Public DNS", then look at changing it within windows, usually by viewing the properties of your connection/ethernet adaptor/wireless connection, and then viewing the properties of the IPV4 protocol, in there you will find at the bottom of the newly visible window the DNS settings, and add them accordingly based on the IP of which google's servers use.

Changing your DNS server will not damage or break anything, but incorrectly inputting the details/IP will cause pages not to load, double check the IP before applying changes to save yourself going back and correcting the mistake.

Also, I am always tweaking my browser to find the best possible setup to use for myself (PaleMoon 64bit), changing settings of which shouldn't be changed, in hopes that maybe some provide better performance, or in other cases, make it worse.

I should really get round to writing a tutorial or something based on my findings when messing with my browser.

    Hello,

It's looking like it might be something relatively isolated to the West server + Chrome users mostly, so we've reported that to be investigated further. At the very least, west seems to be feeling the affects of whatever it is in particular.
It could explain why we don't have more widespread complaints of what's going on (at least through EN community).

Anywho, like I said, it's been reported so hopefully they'll be able to narrow down what exactly needs to be cleared up.

    Regards,

edit: annnnd it *should* be better now
