[UI] A Drone Ship ?? How ??

    This idea Ive posted before in other forms and is kinda DOs idea.

    A ship that sends out AI drone fighters. Like at the end of Kronos or during the Terror gates. The Irises attack independent of the ship.

    Carrier Class Ship

    Speed : 200
    Cargo : 3000
    Lasers :1 (targeting purposes)
    Generators : 20
    HitPoints : 420,000
    Extras : 5
    Missile Points : 2 or (3)

    Abilities

    ship would function as a mothership for 8-(12)-14 targetable AI Fighter Drones (FLAX w/drone design)

    Multi Targeting - yes being able to target multiple enemies (1) per missile turret equal damage split.

    Prismatic shielding

    Targeting - damage bonus when attacking one target.

    I like this too because I have asked for an aircraft carrier several times. You have aliens that have drones fighters why can't we have ships with drones fighter on them too.

    But I would like a little more fire power than one lasers. When the drones are out you are at your weakest. The New Carriers all have CIWS (and more other weapons) which will put up a wall a lead (depleted Uranium) one round in every inch. Shoots 3,000 rounds a minute. Nothing gets through and armor well it will get through 15 sheets of 1 inch thick plates. Look at WW II naval movies (Midway for one), once the planes left they were at the most voluble. If it wasn't for the escort ships carriers wouldn't last long. Your P.E.T. could be turn into an AWACS a non fighter only bonus it still could still be collecting.

    hi warrrior. With the new tactical ships that DO is coming out with I am hoping they take a moment to seriously consider this idea. When putting this idea together I tried to keep some kind of balance with the other ships. essentially, 1 AI fighter drone per laser slot thats lost. This would keep the firepower about the same. The ship would also be equiped with multiple H-Storm missile points and multiple missile launchers. so it would not be defenseless. 3-4 defence points, 1 laser, 1 H-storm, 1 missile launcher 3-4 AI fighters per defence point. In a PVP fight, if th opponent targets drones then the player may be losing firepower but he will be freely attacking the ship. If the opponent attacks the mother ship then the full force of firepower can be employed. it at least seems like a balanced ship this way. Yes put enough radar protocols on it and tie the fighter range to radar range and that is exactly what the pet turns into.

    HEHEHE id love to see a pure missile platform.

    Go for it! I love the Idea. I hope DO does too.

    One more thing cargo. Carriers are floating supply ships too. I can't tell you how many times we refuel from them or getting ship stores too. I was on a small boy "Destroyer" we never carried enough with us, and gassed up every few days from an Oiler or Carrier. We hit port a lot too and we refuel there too as well as restocking our larders.

    I was in the Navy as well, small boy hahaha. I was on a frigate awaqy from the main battle group conducting anti-sub. Talk about cramming some peeps ina can. Seemed like we were haze gray and underway to our next unrep. LOL got my shell one of the few east coast ships that had. LOL. only got to pull alongside a carrier once tho.

    I did think about Cargo, i didnt want to step on the Citadel at 4,500. 3,000 seems light I agree but a ?good? figure. Maybe design the hull similar to Hitac. One forward 4 drone main Laser/H-Storm battery, 2 rear 2-3 drone auxilliary Laser/H-storm batteries aft. There have been leaks of new H-Storm launchers :p. Independent firecontrol. 2 missile launchers port and starboard. A balanced Dome Formation, the one they have now is useless. mUHAHAha. Best part some of the pieces are already there.


    OOOO theres sooooo much that DO could do with this game. Any Noob can get in a Goli and be a meat shield, it takes a pilot to fly a ship. DarkOrbit desperately needs new "SHIPS" that provide a variety of paths to victory. I like what ive seen so far. I pray they continue with a balanced game approach.

  6. The reason you get stores from the carrier is they get replenished from the CODS that keep flying the stores to them. Have to remember those boys are not allowed in every liberty port like us "CAN" Sailors were. I too was on a frigate and my last Captain hated Liberty, so bad he took us to Karachi Pakistan when we were offered Sydney Australia, don't think that was a hit to ships morale, he took haze gray and underway to a whole new level, even had the engineers do a operational readiness test when 2/3 of the machinery was out of service waiting for parts or repair (did not even have the fresh water available for cooking).

    LOL. Help Me, Sounds like a Captain i had during my short period in the Navy. Looking back i think we were underway 3/4 of his tour on our ship. Sounds like that Captain may have been looking for a promotion to admiral.
