[UI] Clan Battle Station update & being destroyed ideas

  1. Please, can we make it so clan battle station cannot be attacked on the centre until some of the outside modules are removed? It doesn't have to be all of them and it doesn't have to count if some have been replaced. But it's just really boring when a clan of 10 members will come and destroy the middle only.

    I get many kills but they also destroy the base with little effort. Either this or maybe make the middle of the base invulnerable until no ships are on it.

    Cause right now, owning a CBS is just about impossible because any big UFE clan will come along and destroy it with very little effort no matter how noob they are and how many times they die because there is no punishment in this game for death.

    Speaking of deaths... My other idea is maybe when you are destroyed by a player, you are no longer allowed to attack the said player for some time and they cannot attack you, maybe after 5 deaths? In MOBA games it's actually a reported offence if you do this. But because in DarkOrbit your repair is completely free with no real consequence, no one cares if they die. This needs to be fixed.

    DarkOrbit is very group based fighting, which is boring when everyone uses spectrum/solace with a ring so this also needs to be fixed.

    These are just some ideas, I really hope something happens about the CBS. Like I said, it's really pointless to make if you aren't in a massive clan, and even if you are another massive clan and just hit the centre and you got no chance to defend it.
     
  2. It is one of the flaws that is being exploited to boost Hierarchy of the Clan. The Hull and Deflector should always have the Shield until the defense modules have been destroyed, but then this would defeat the attackers and then there would be no one able to destroy the CBS's.
     
  3. That wasn't exactly the answer I was looking for. All you did is prove my first point right and not address the second.

    I was hoping for a moderator to say if it's possible for it to be changed or not.

    And no, it's not that it's being exploited because people make CBS bases for the sake of gaining kills. But when the middle just gets destroyed, it defeats the purpose. No one cares how many CBS your clan has destroyed and the reason no one cares is that it's not difficult to destroy them if your clan has a lot of "strong" ships.

    Like, I spent all this time upgrading my CBS modules for what? Just so they can destroy the middle and I can't do diddly squat against it. Neither can anyone else, no matter how many people you got there, they just shoot the middle and it's dead.

    Also, I think you shouldn't be able to moth CBS either to damage the HP more. Again, defeats the purpose of the CBS cause it is destroyed with such little effort and feeding a couple kills is all it takes.

    P.S. It's spelt "defence" not "defense".

    Good points. To answer your question; yes it's possible. Will it change? Maybe, but not anytime soon. Isn't this why we have this area on the forums? :)
     
  5. Yeah, it's for making ideas and forwarding the good ones over.

    The CBS currently is definitely a problem and very underwhelming, no wonder most use it just for boosters.

    This is a very interesting topic, therefore I might even drop a dot right here . to ensure I get a notification of new replies.

    This is already being looked into, so sooner or later Ring won't be an issue anymore, neither the Solace.

    What comes to the repair part, I do agree that there should be some kind of penalty of getting destroyed, however, this again might put us again to lower level to keep the noobs motivated. Gap is bigger than ever, you got a lot to grind and if you should repair for every ship that 500 Uridium, I'd lose my mind (just like I did around 5 years ago before it was implemented lol). Your example was actually pretty good, as it also avoids pushing.

    Half of the modules might be enough, you'll open basically a path to the core, instead of destroying the mighty wall.
     
  7. Compelling answer with all honesty.

    I don't think ships that aren't UFE need a repair punishment, but when you're completely maxed out and dying for a base it's a different matter. I don't think uridium loss should be the punishment, I personally think it should be simply that you cannot attack the target and they cannot attack you. It would solve pushing but it would solve feeding/dying repeatedly as well.

    Also, by "you" I mean you and any battle stations under your clans name. Just so they can't exploit that you cannot defend your CBS.
     

  8. Okay the issues with the CBS are:

    1. Modules do not see CLOAKED enemy players and as such allow them to stack on the Hull Module
    2. Defensive (checked with Spell Checker) measures do not attack inside the Perimeter of the Modules
    3. Once the attack starts the Defense Modules should fire at ALL enemy targets on/near CBS not just one
    4. As previously stated there should be a constant shield on the Core until % of the outer modules are destroyed
    5. When destroyed attacking a CBS the attacker is automatically sent to Home Base, Defenders can repair on CBS as DMZ
    6. Kills defending the CBS are not subject to the "Pushing" punishment as you are defending yourself (CBS) (see #5)
    Another solution to the Cloaked attackers would be to create an EMP Pulse Module that would destroy Cloaks of any enemy who enters into the firing range of the CBS Modules, thus preventing them from sneaking in and sitting on the Center waiting for the rest of their friends to stack before they attack the Hull.

    The game was originally designed to have people come together and play in groups to have fun and communicate while enjoying the Game. Once you reached level 12 you were expected to have to have help killing the Ubers and Cubikons, these were not created to be Solo'd as they are now.

    As most Clans will use the Bases for Boosters (these are not Defensive Modules) a base will have 4-8 Defensive Modules assigned so I would say if 4 have been destroyed then the center Shielding would drop to allow the attack of it.


    We used to have a saying for the Same Company Killers "Pop 'em back to a P'nut", which if you were not careful and make sure you had enough Uridium to repair your Ship you had to replace it and as we did not have humongous amounts of credits (Trade did not return for lost bids) a person would run out of credits and end up in the FREE Phoenix if they chose to continue to play. But those days are way behind us now.
